A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.
Do you drink coffee? If so, what do you take with it?
Yes, I drink coffee with cream. I try to avoid drinking coffee in the afternoon for fear that I will be up all night. It’s happened before. I was literally doing the “running man” in bed.
How did you amass such a substantial presence on social media?
The key to building your social media is to establish and maintain relationships with your followers. On social media (and in life), if you are passionate about something, you will eventually connect with others that share the same passion. Shameless plugs don’t hurt either – be sure to add @torleefishing on Instagram!
Favourite place to fish?
I really enjoy fishing on Georgian Bay. The landscape in this area is incredible and the fishery is very healthy. We are quite fortunate to live in a place with such natural beauty!
Who in the class do you think is most likely to become a master angler?
I think that Paige Breedon would be the most likely candidate. She is very patient, extremely competitive, and would be an absolute weapon on the water!
How does your psychology degree help in teaching?
My psychology degree has proven to be extremely beneficial throughout my teaching career. It’s helped me really appreciate just how important motivation can be when it comes to helping students realize their potential. It’s also helped me become more empathetic and to better understand young people.
Do you have a favourite memory of Global so far this year?
I have so many fond memories! My favorite would have to be when we first arrived in Zweibrucken and were greeted by our German friends. They were cheering, holding signs, and waving Canadian flags. The reaction of the globalites was priceless. There were huge smiles and tears of joy as they embraced their exchange partner after seven months without seeing each other. This experience was incredible and will undoubtedly stay with me for the rest of my life!
