The Big Pitch - El gran lanzamiento
Each year the Global Perspectives Program brings down humanitarian aid to Cuba. This year was the first time that this effort had been integrated into the curriculum and turned into an assignment. El gran lanzamiento, or the Big Pitch, had the class divided into groups of four that were each responsible for ‘pitching’ to the class their ideas/plans on how to organize the humanitarian aid to Cuba. During the pitch, each group was required to highlight the specific actions that could be taken to acquire donations for four specific areas of focus: education, sporting equipment, health, and fundraising. After all of the groups had pitched their ideas, the entire class had a vote to decide the winning group. The members of the winning group respectively became the leaders of the specified areas and with the help of their peers worked toward attaining donations. The winners were Zarah, Emily, Meaghan and Brooke. Although the entire class worked toward a collective goal, this assignment allowed the proper organization of ideas and in turn, set up an ideal framework to commence these efforts.
