In order to reach our humanitarian aid goals for our trip to Cuba, the Global class had to rely heavily on outside sponsorship and backing from individuals, businesses, and institutions. The amount of support we received was unbelievable, showing us how truly blessed we are to live in such an amazing community, city, province, and country. We raised nearly $3300 from direct monetary donations, and an additional $1700 on our Go Fund Me page. In addition, we received a substantial amount of physical items through donation. As a result of this community involvement, a total of 36 bags filled with humanitarian aid supplies from children’s medicine and books to baseball bats and gloves were brought to and distributed throughout the Matanzas province of Cuba. The Global Perspectives program would like to extend sincere gratitude to the following individuals, businesses, and institutions for their hard work and dedication to assisting our humanitarian aid mission:
The Global Perspectives students and staff would also like to thank many corporate and school sponsors for their charitable donations towards our humanitarian effort in Matanzas Province, Cuba: OSSTF, Barrie Firefighters, Bikeland Barrie, Chantler Transport, Barrie Minor Baseball Association, Rotary Club of Barrie Huronia, Hyde Park Public School, Hewitt’s Creek Public School, Algonquin Ridge Public School, Assikinack Public School, Mapleview Heights Public School, Eagle Ridge Pharmacy, Little Avenue Pharmacy, Express Aid Pharmacy, and White Cedar Dental.
Once again, we would like to extend sincere gratitude to all of those who assisted the Global Perspectives 2019 humanitarian mission, and we hope for continued growth in this sector of our program.
